Clean 47: PLANET ORWELL May 05, 2011 03:16 PM PDT 460>_4427302

Experiential podcaster Rak Razam interviews Max Igan, 'memetic revolutionary' and podcaster of Surviving the Matrix on American Voice Radio and probes the intertwined issues of planetary awakening and control. As the illusion of democracy crumbles across the globe and a cancerous consumerism strip-mines the planet, are we on the verge of a New World Order of enslavement or enlightenment? Are they the two sides to a larger awareness? Just who profits from a dead earth, anyway? Can a new language give us words for concepts beyond revolution, or a Newspeak to entrain the left brain? Who writes the history books and how far back does the organized conspiracy we call history really go? Where did all the gold go and just who is the Central Intelligence whose eye is in the pyramid? Welcome to Planet Orwell (or is it All Well?), where everything you know is wrong, and the answers will provoke more questions…

THE RIGHT WING IS BURNING > Naomi Klein on Climate Change

Naomi Klein: Why Climate Change Is So Threatening to Right-Wing Ideologues ( 0)

By Naomi Klein interviewed by Amy Goodman
AlterNet
Tuesday, Mar 15, 2011

"Climate change challenges everything conservatives believe in. So they're choosing to disbelieve it, at our peril."

AMY GOODMAN: Our guest for the hour is Naomi Klein, journalist and author. Her latest book, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism. She’s writing a new book on climate change and the climate change deniers. Naomi, take it from there.

NAOMI KLEIN: The book is not about the deniers, but it does get into it, because I started trying to understand these dramatic drops in belief that climate change is real. I mean, we’ve just ended the hottest decade on record. There’s overwhelming evidence that climate change is real now. It’s not just about reading the science. It’s about people’s daily experience. And yet, we’ve seen this remarkable drop, where, in 2007, 71—this is a Harris poll—71 percent of Americans believed climate change was real, and two years later, 51 percent of Americans believed it. So, a 20 percent drop. And we’ve seen a similar dramatic just the floor falling out in the same period in Australia, in the U.K. It’s not happening everywhere. It’s happening in countries that have very polarized political debates, where they have very strong culture wars.

And there are some people who have been doing some really interesting analysis of these numbers, where you see—like there’s a political scientist named Clive Hamilton in Australia who’s done some really terrific writing on this, where what he shows is that climate change didn’t used to be a partisan political issue. You wouldn’t know whether somebody believed in climate change or not just by asking if they were Republican or Democrat. That’s completely changed. Democrats overwhelmingly believe in climate change. Their position hasn’t changed. Republicans now don’t—overwhelmingly do not believe in climate change. So that drop has been split along partisan lines. Now, it seems kind of obvious that that would be the case, but still it’s remarkable, because what it means is that it no longer really has anything to do with the science. And the environmental movement has just been shocked by how it would be possible to lose so much ground so quickly when there is so much more scientific evidence, so that, there’s all kinds of attempts to respond to this, to get climate scientists out there explaining things better, to popularize the science, and none of it seems to be working. And the reason is that climate change is now seen as an identity issue on the right. People are defining themselves, like they’re against abortion, they don’t believe in climate change. It’s part of who they are.

Brotherhood of Scum Vs. The Rest

Greetings Sentients.

My ongoing brief is to probe and examine the unfolding edges of technologically based consciousness and report back.

Words come easily, thinking is more difficult and nothing is impossible while spin doctors grow in number, masquerading as pseudo-scientists and psychologists. But they're the inpatients, improperly programmed by earlier, inferior generations of humanity, or by the increasingly Draconian 'powers-that-be'.

Now the spin doctors appear splendidly varied, yet they're all the same, because, whether they're trying to fragment real issues, like the evolution of non-Darwinian behaviour, or just hitting you up with the latest on Lindsay Lohan it doesn't matter. What matters is that they know that cultural transformation on a grand scale is ahoy, which could make it possible for a truly democratic rethink on the fundamental priorities of human affairs on this planet. Of course lot's of corporations, who own the spin doctors, don't like this idea, which is obvious to just about everyone else, except them.

Planet Maya > by Rak Razam

NOTE:

According to the Foundation for the Law of Time, Jose Arguelles "departed this Planet on Solar Moon 17 (March 23), Red Spectral Moon, at 6:10 a.m (the exact same time that he was born in 1939 in the Red Spectral Moon year)."

"After a short illness, he slipped away in complete peace. We are asking for those who loved him to hold a synchronized vigil and/or ceremony on his behalf at noon (Pacific standard time) on Solar Moon 19, Kin 91. Send him your prayers, light and blessings to continue his spirit journey - and also visualize the rainbow bridge and the Return of Light."

It may not be a bank holiday or a day off work, but July 25th is the `Day Out of Time' for the newest spiritual movement and it's push for global calendar reform. It's called `Dreamspell', a cross between astrology and a new religion that has appropriated the knowledge of the ancient Maya and their 13 moon calendar and packaged it for mainstream consumption.

Calendar classes are popping up like the new pilates as the `in' thing to do, as a `sexed up' Mayan calendar resurgence sweeps the world. Before you know it, Madonna will be casting her glyph and singing about the `Blue Crystal Storm' as the message that `we are now at the end of the Dreamspell of history and at the beginning of the Dreamspell of galactic culture' takes off. But what is it about the13 moon calendar that has haunted history? Why is it so important and why does it still resonate with everyday people in this global village of pick and choose ideologies? Underlying it all is a deep sense of something that feels right in an artificial world where even the way we measure time is arbitrary and oppressive. The only problem is, indigenous Mayan Elders aren't too happy about the way it's being promoted, and a culture war is brewing as the Dreamspell turns into a nightmare.

Bear Owsley – A Practical Solution to Prohibition

Utter nonsense!

ALL DRUGS MUST BE LEGALISED (I do NOT mean 'decriminalised) AT ONCE. Leave aside the absolutely ludicrous idea that ANY plant can be made illegal, the drug prohibition has spread the use of all kinds of drugs to nearly everyone on the planet.  In 1937 .03% of the US population used pot, today it is around 80-90%.

And why not? Literally millions deal drugs, the highest paying enterprise on earth, even open to kids.

But most importantly drug prohibition is the SINGLE cause of the present financial meltdown!  What do you think the 'Mafia' do/did with those trillions/year?  Well you can't keep all that in cash, so it had to be used to buy things, BIG things, like multinational corps.  Over 80% of teh ownership of all the biggest corps (banks, loan companies, Transamerica, Halliburton, etc) are owned by a mere handful of (the same) people.  So it is not surprising that they all were acting like street hoods- that is the Mafia way.  Every cent in 'stimulus buys more drugs, and of course drugs cost nearly nothing, they are PLANTS and plant products- the 'price' is a DELIVERY FEE, very like gambling- it drains the life out of teh community and spawns wars and so on.

Any and all commodities that are in trade, MUST be in legal, normal trade.  NO BLACK MARKETS can exist in today's world.

The original and ONLY reason for this prohibition is/was to REPLACE the alcohol prohibition with one which targeted USERS, so the corrupt cops did not have to bust those who were paying them (embarrassing to say the least!).

Those who think that it is acceptable to ENLARGE this stupidity need a good talking to.

I suggest you make a print-out of my essay "Win the War..." (I need to update the title to 'A Practical Solution'- please use this title).

Revolution 2.0

Social media is often described as a 'revolution', but in Egypt, this appears to literally be coming true. Wael Ghonim, the Google executive credited for creating the Facebook page that first called for the protests on January 25th, has emerged as the first genuine 'face' of the movement he helped catalyse. After re-emerging from being held by the Egyptian authorities for ten days, most of the time blindfolded, he received a hero's welcome in Cairo's Tahrir Square. In his recent CNN interview, (whilst carefully making it clear that 'This is not about me', but rather the Egyptian people) it is clear that Ghonim's articulate -- and tech savvy -- passion is making him an icon of the revolution.

The Ayahuasca Sessions

| | | | | | |

The Ayahuasca Sessions is a companion collection of interviews by journalist Rak Razam with the curanderos, shamans, ayahuasqueros and seekers that drink ayahuasca. In over two dozen sessions Razam lets the shamans (and the seekers) explain in their own words the demands and dangers of their profession in the 21st century and what they think the unprecedented explosion in Western interest in shamanism forbodes.

Boldly designed and with over 100 black and white photographs, the collection features interviews with Guillermo Aravelo, Percy Garcia, Ron Wheelock, Dennis McKenna, Ph.D, Jan Kounen, Alan Shoemaker, and more. A classic text for those interested in the booming business of ayahuasca tourism, entheogens, spirituality, anthropology and counter-culture studies.

In A Perfect World 41: GALACTIVATION!

| | | | | | | | | |

Experiential journalist Rak Razam interviews Dan Schreiber, Australia's answer to Terence McKenna, a grand intellectual thinker and the founder of Starseed Gardens in the Byron Bay Shire. In this epic, far-reaching conversation Schreiber explores the heart-mind-pineal relationship of consciousness and shares his experiences learning from tribal peoples across the globe. What is the entheogenic connection between the Amazon and the Outback, ayahuasca cosmovision and the Dreamtime at the End of Time? Learn the secrets of the Australian cane toad–and its DMT/ bufotenine secretions–as Schreiber explains its role as an activator for the tryptamine-acacia fields across Australia. How does the devic world under the surface of nature itself fuel the current flowering of planetary consciousness? Schreiber describes the cascading role of entheogens shaping planetary culture to the tipping point we are now living through, and the whole-systems theory of Gaian "galactivation" as we remember our personal and collective awakening… This conversation is itself a catalyst and a turning point for moving forward: A highly recommended, lengthy dialogue that links up many existing theories into a collective whole to guide us deeper into the new paradigm…

In A Perfect World 39: Spirit Messengers

| | | | | |

On the road in Peru with Mitch Schultz, who talks about the making of his documentary The Spirit Molecule, based on the Rick Strassman book of the same name, and why he was driven to make an independent documentary about DMT. In 2002 Schultz had his first experience with dimethyltryptamine and the entities therein: nothing would ever be the same. Schultz convinced Dr. Rick Strassman to lend his story and credibility as the narrative backbone of the documentary, studying DMT in controlled medical conditions with legal patients under the auspices of the US government from 1990-1995. Why has nature seeded DMT throughout most living things: as a strategic neurotransmitter, a language for nature to communicate within itself? What is the value of contact experiences with entities in innerspace? How can film communicate a glimpse of the DMT realm and how ready are mainstream audiences for it? Join experiential journalist Rak Razam and filmmaker Mitch Schultz in search of the answers...
